The requirement for in-network contracted Paramount specialist referrals was eliminated beginning January 1, 2011. Because of this, your Primary Care Provider (PCP) may not be aware when or if you have seen a specialist.

It is very important to ask your specialist to communicate findings and treatment to your PCP. Your PCP needs to be made aware of and kept updated on your plan of treatment, including the medicine you are taking, results of lab tests and X-rays, etc.

Don’t forget to tell the specialist and their staff the name and address of your PCP.
