Mental Health Coverage Updates

Paramount is in compliance with the Ohio Mental Health Parity Act that is effective as of September 29, 2007. Here is what you need to know:

  • The benefits for diagnosing and treating mental illness are the same as the benefits provided for other physical conditions. If you are a new member or are renewing your coverage, you will receive these new benefits as of your effective date on or after October 1, 2007.
  • The office visit and/or inpatient benefit applies to outpatient and inpatient care for mental illness based on your employer group's benefit plan. There is no change in the referral process. Clinical guidelines still apply.
  • Coverage for substance abuse treatment is still separate and subject to annual limits.

If you have any questions, please call Member Services at 1-419-887-2525 or 1-800-462-3589.
