How to Split Your Pills
—and Copayments—in Half

Photo of PillsIf you take a certain dose of Lipitor®, Crestor®, Lexapro®, or sertraline (generic Zoloft®), you may be able to save money by splitting your pills. To introduce our new voluntary pill-splitting program, you may have already received a pill splitter in the mail or one may arrive soon. We encourage you to discuss the appropriate use of pill splitting with your doctor.

Doctors can write prescriptions for a 30- or 60-day supply of the medications mentioned above at a half-tab dose, and you will be charged only half of the usual copayment at the pharmacy. For example, if your doctor usually prescribes 40 milligrams (mg) of Lipitor to be taken every day, he or she can write a prescription for 15 or 30 tablets of Lipitor (80 mg) with instructions to take one-half of a tablet daily. You can then split the pills and receive a one-month supply for half of the usual copayment or a 60-day supply for your typical 30-day copayment

Join Our Pill-Splitting Program

If you have a prescription for Lipitor (10, 20, or 40 mg), Crestor (5, 10, or 20 mg), Lexapro (5 or 10 mg), or sertraline (generic Zoloft [25 or 50 mg]) and are interested in participating in our pill-splitting program, call Member Services at 1-419-887-2525 or 1-800-462-3589.
