Maintenance Drug List Changes for 2008

Photo of DrugsEvery year, the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Working Group reviews the Maintenance Drug List to determine whether any appropriate changes need to be made. The changes listed below will take place January 1, 2008. Drugs on the Maintenance Drug List are dispensed in 100-unit doses or a 30-day supply (whichever is greater) at a single copayment. For a complete Maintenance Drug List or to inquire if your drug benefit carries the Maintenance Rider, you may call Member Services at 1-419-887-2525 or 1-800-462-3589. You can also visit our Web site at www.paramounthealthcare.com and click on "Member Services," "Prescription Drug Program," then "Maintenance Medications."

Additions to the Maintenance Drug List

Calcium channel blockers: Amlodipine (generic Norvasc),
Metoprolol ER (generic Toprol XL)

Deletions from the Maintenance Drug List

Beta-blockers: Toprol XL (generic added, see above)
Calcium channel blockers: Norvasc (generic added, see above)

Important News for Members with High Cholesterol

Paramount covers generic Zocor®, also known as simvastatin, at a $0 copayment for members with active prescription drug benefits. This $0 copayment will continue for all prescriptions filled for generic simvastatin through December 2008.
