 The Heart of a Woman

Woman smilingHeart disease kills more women than any other illness. So it is important to know the signs of a heart attack.

Women may have different symptoms than men. Both men and women may feel crushing chest pain during a heart attack. But a woman might also feel:

  • Mild chest pain, pressure, squeezing, tightness, or fullness
  • Shortness of breath
  • Nausea and upset stomach
  • Unusual tiredness
  • Cold sweats
  • Dizziness

Call 911 right away if you have any of these symptoms. It may save your life.

Some women may have symptoms as much as a month before having a heart attack. Signs include extreme tiredness, trouble sleeping, shortness of breath, and upset stomach.

Call your doctor if you have any of these symptoms and feel worried. He or she can figure out what the problem may be.
