Cough or Cold Medicines for Kids?

Children’s health experts now warn that you should never use over-the-counter cold medicines if your child is younger than age 4. Why? These drugs may make young children very sick or even die.

Instead, here are things you can do to help your child feel better.

  • Give your child plenty of liquids to drink.
  • Use saline nose drops to loosen mucus.
  • Use a bulb syringe to gently suction his or her clogged nose.
If your child does not get better, call his or her doctor for advice.
